Making your own soap at home is a great way to keep things natural, avoid harsh chemicals, and enjoy a fresh, clean scent. Many soap recipes use caustic soda (lye), but if you prefer a gentler alternative, this lemon, vinegar, and alcohol soap is a perfect choice!
Why This Soap?
✅ Cleans effectively without harsh chemicals
✅ Removes grease and dirt naturally
✅ Refreshing citrus scent from lemon
✅ Vinegar for antibacterial power
✅ Alcohol for disinfection
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 1 bar of glycerin soap (or Castile soap) – acts as the base
- 1/2 cup white vinegar – natural cleanser and antibacterial agent
- 1/2 cup lemon juice – cuts grease and adds a fresh scent
- 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol (70%) – disinfectant and preservative
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil or olive oil – for extra moisture
- 5-10 drops of essential oil (optional, lemon or tea tree for extra antibacterial properties)
How to Make It:
1️⃣ Grate the Soap Base
- Using a cheese grater, finely grate the glycerin or Castile soap. This helps it melt faster.
2️⃣ Melt the Soap
- Place the grated soap in a heatproof bowl and use a double boiler method (placing the bowl over a pot of simmering water). Stir occasionally until fully melted.
3️⃣ Add Vinegar, Lemon, and Alcohol
- Once melted, slowly stir in the vinegar, lemon juice, and rubbing alcohol. Mix well.
4️⃣ Incorporate Oils
- Add coconut or olive oil to keep the soap from being too drying. If using essential oils, add them now.
5️⃣ Pour into Molds
- Carefully pour the mixture into silicone molds or a soap tray. Let it cool and harden for about 24 hours.
6️⃣ Enjoy Your Natural Soap!
- Once fully set, pop the soap out of the mold and store in a dry place.
How to Use It:
🧼 Great for washing hands, dishes, and even as a gentle body soap!
🍋 Leaves a refreshing, clean scent while being kind to your skin.
Try this homemade soap for a natural, eco-friendly way to keep your home fresh and clean!
