Homemade Lemon Turmeric Soap ๐Ÿ‹ Natural Cold Process Soap Recipe

Looking to pamper your skin with a nourishing, homemade soap? This lemon turmeric soap is gentle, beautifully scented, and full of natural goodness. Plus, turmeric gives it a lovely golden color and skin-soothing properties!

Why Lemon & Turmeric?

  • Lemon essential oil adds a fresh, uplifting scent and natural cleansing power.
  • Turmeric powder gives the soap a cheerful color and may calm irritated skin thanks to its anti-inflammatory benefits.

Ingredients:

  • 450g (1 lb) olive oil
  • 230g (8 oz) coconut oil
  • 115g (4 oz) shea butter
  • 85g (3 oz) castor oil (for a creamy lather)
  • 134g (4.7 oz) lye (sodium hydroxide)
  • 300g (10.5 oz) distilled water (ice-cold or refrigerated)
  • 2 tablespoons turmeric powder
  • 30-40 drops pure lemon essential oil

Equipment:

  • Digital scale
  • Stainless steel or heat-resistant plastic container
  • Stick blender
  • Silicone soap mold
  • Safety gear: gloves, goggles, long sleeves

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the lye water: Wearing gloves and goggles, slowly sprinkle lye into cold distilled water (never the other way around). Stir until dissolved. It will heat up โ€” set aside to cool to 38-43ยฐC (100-110ยฐF).
  2. Melt the oils: Gently melt coconut oil and shea butter. Combine with olive and castor oils in a large bowl. Let the oils cool to 38-43ยฐC (100-110ยฐF).
  3. Blend lye and oils: Pour the cooled lye solution into the oils. Use a stick blender to mix until you reach light trace (a thin pudding consistency).
  4. Add turmeric & lemon oil: Stir in turmeric powder and lemon essential oil until evenly incorporated.
  5. Pour into mold: Transfer the soap mixture to your mold. Tap gently to remove air bubbles.
  6. Cure the soap: Cover and insulate for 24 hours. Unmold, slice, and cure the bars in a dry, ventilated area for 4-6 weeks.

Enjoy your creamy, natural lemon turmeric soap โ€” perfect for a refreshing, skin-loving cleanse thatโ€™s as beautiful as it is beneficial!
